SHARE Saudi German Hospital (SGH) is planning to invest in a new medical complex in Alexandria comprising 35 outpatient clinics, a physiotherapy centre, a diagnostic laboratory, an imaging centre and an emergency department, while also evaluating expansion opportunities in new urban communities across Cairo, Alexandria and New Alamein. The healthcare group is also accelerating its regional expansion and seeking to strengthen Egypt’s position as a medical tourism hub through a new strategic partnership with Conceive IVF Center, targeting a larger share of the Gulf fertility treatment market. Mohamed Lallo, Hospital Director at Saudi German Health, said the group is preparing to begin operations at its new hospital in Casablanca, Morocco, within the next year following the completion of construction. The healthcare provider is also moving ahead with plans to launch a new hospital in Pakistan. Saudi German Health currently operates 14 hospitals across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Yemen. The addition of the Morocco and Pakistan facilities will further expand its regional healthcare network. Last week, Saudi German Hospital signed a strategic partnership with Conceive IVF Center to strengthen infertility treatment services and promote medical tourism by capitalising on Egypt’s competitive advantages in assisted reproductive technologies, including advanced medical expertise, high treatment success rates and lower costs compared with many international markets. Adel Abo El Hassan, Owner and Technical Director of Conceive IVF Fertility Center, said Egypt is well positioned to increase its share of the regional fertility tourism market, noting that Egyptian IVF centres employ advanced medical technologies and achieve success rates comparable with leading European and US clinics while offering significantly lower treatment costs. He said the partnership aims to capture between 25% and 30% of the Gulf IVF services market over the coming years by attracting more patients from GCC countries and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for specialised fertility treatment. According to Abo El Hassan, IVF success rates in Egypt range between 60% and 70% for women under the age of 35. The rates decline to 40-50% for women aged 35 to 38, 25-30% for those aged 38 to 40, and 10-17.8% for women between 41 and 43 years old. Success rates fall to between 1% and 5% after the age of 43. He attributed Egypt’s comparatively high success rates partly to regulations that allow physicians, when medically appropriate, to transfer more than one embryo during IVF procedures, unlike some European countries and the United States, where regulations often limit embryo transfer to a single embryo. Abo El Hassan added that Egypt’s competitiveness extends beyond lower treatment costs to include advanced reproductive technologies such as comprehensive preimplantation genetic testing, embryo selection, artificial intelligence-assisted laboratory systems and modern incubation technologies designed to improve the chances of achieving healthy pregnancies. He noted that international patients accounted for 10% to 15% of the centre’s total visitors last year, with patients arriving from Libya, Saudi Arabia, other Arab and African countries, as well as several European markets.
